Did you know that daily step counts DROPPED 50% worldwide during the first month of Covid-19 lockdowns? But that outdoor physical activity BOOMED in May 2020, with 63% saying they walked for exercise, transport or to manage their mental health?

We’ve collected a series of fun facts about running and walking trends and how they developed when physical activity was forced out of indoor sports halls and gyms and into the open air and the spaces around us.

Running, walking and rolling have become three of the most popular and easy ways for people to exercise and keep fit in 2020 and 2021. In fact, 59.1% of active adults surveyed in 122 countries said that outdoor activities like running, training, hiking, and walking are the best way to stay fit in 2021.
